Renée Sue Edelman attributes her success to the values of lifelong education, self-reliance, and community service instilled by her parents. These principles have guided her distinguished career in communications, where she has focused on helping clients share their stories and create positive change. Starting in the 1980s as a news assistant at the New York Daily News and a reporter for Central Jersey Home News, Renée joined Edelman in 1987, the global communications firm founded by her father, Daniel J. Edelman. Renée held several key positions, including vice president of technology, senior vice president, and executive vice president of new media. She also helped establish Edelman’s sister company, PR21, later known as Zeno Group, serving as executive vice president of new media until 2003. From 2003 to 2020, Renée worked as a senior media strategist before becoming senior vice president of diversity and inclusion. Since 2021, she has focused on diversity recruitment and educational events as senior vice president of archivist and special projects. She has served on the board of directors for Daniel J. Edelman Holdings, Inc. since 2013. In addition to her professional work, Renée has been involved with the Children’s Museum of Manhattan, the Women’s Leadership Council at Phillips Exeter Academy, and Theater for the New City. Inspired by her father’s PR work and her mother’s corporate success, Renée earned a BA in English from Yale and an MS in Journalism from Columbia University. She is passionate about mentoring young people and plans to write a book about her mother’s life.
